Welcome to Xtreme parrotlets. Today we are briefly going to discuss one of our rare parrotlets. We will be discussing mainly the Misty parrotlets. The Misty parrotlets is a dominant mutation, Misty EF means EIN factor which is not easily recognized and has evidence of underpinnings of genes.
Misty DF Means a Double Factor Misty and is Easily Recognized
The Misty mutation in the green line, most of the green color is replaced by brown and light brown. The blue line color is replaced by gray and or silver even possibly light tan. Xtreem Parrotlet breeders have been working on this rare parrotlet for nearly 2 ½ years. Two separate pairs of birds are needed with two separate bloodlines to produce offspring with the correct genes to create such a bird. Xtreem Parrotlet breeders are working on setting a whole new line of Misty parrotlets in different colors, as the Misty EF/DF gene can be used in all colors of parrotlets through breeding and crossbreeding. We take great care in keeping the bloodlines of our breeder parrotlets separate. Allowing us to have no complications down the road of breeding this rare parrotlet. We alone are working on the turquoise fallow pied Misty which will need at least one more year to complete. Currently, we have had 20 Misty type parrotlets that we have successfully bred.
We will now share with you just some of the difficult genetic formulas needed to complete the creation of a Misty parrotlet. We will start with the blue fallow pied Misty EF which has mosaic cells that occur only in pied’s. In a particular cell, it could be the paternal XP/ or the maternal Xm/, that remains active. These cells pass their inactivation patterns to all of their descendants often in a complicated way which produce a mottled pattern. The complete organism is a mosaic of cells expressing alleles from either XP/or XM/chromosome depending on which one has escaped inactivation. This also is proof positive that a parrotlets or any of the bird cannot be split to pied. We have argued this point with other breeders only to exhaust each other, pied is not a color, pied is a reaction of selves trying to escape the walls of the main chromosome. If the cells cannot escape the chromosome wall you cannot have a molted pattern which we call pied. Pieding can only be produced, the parrotlets are either a pied, or not, it cannot be split to pied.
Our breeders have exhausted themselves proving this theory out over a seven-year period only to find, that not one bird was ever split to pied. We have friends located in the UK that also breed Misty parrotlets. They have the green line which now looks yellow and dark tan, they also have blue Misty’s which can be mistaken for the blue pastel parrotlet. We have also found that the Misty parrotlets are not well received here and the USA. Most breeders don’t know what to do with it, and others could care less, they are not educated nor do they care to be educated in this fine parrotlet species. We will still breed the Misty parrotlets and keep it available for the high-end parrotlets breeder or pet lover whichever comes first. Please let us know your thoughts on Facebook.com/Xtreemparrotlets or Xtreemparrotlets.com website.
Xtreme parrotlet breeders are located in the state of Florida, right in the Tampa Bay Florida area, we find the climate in Tampa Bay Florida to be most beneficial to breeding our rare parrotlets. The state of Florida has been the home of Xtreme parrotlets breeders for the past 16 years. Our Tampa Bay area Florida clients love to come and see our two aviaries where many pet lovers, as well as parrotlet breeders, love the opportunity to visit and see our famous parrotlets. Come for a visit in person or check us out on our xtreemparrotlets.com website. Also, we would like to give a big thanks to all of our Florida state clients, thank you all.
